by isleofman.com 20th October 2014
The Home Affairs Minister says it is important to get the proposed new police Codes of Practice right, which is why they are currently out to public consultation.
Juan Watterson has been speaking about the codes live on Talking Heads on Manx Radio on Monday.
The proposed changes cover a range of matters; arrest, stop and search, searches of premises and seizure of property, the detention, treatment and questioning of people, and interviews.
Procedures to be followed by police when dealing with underage people who have alcohol, and drinking in public places, are also being consulted on.
Mr Watterson explains why the guidelines are so important:Clip 1
