World Polio Day - Douglas Rotary Club and MIFA join forces

by isleofman.com 22nd October 2014

Friday is World Polio Day.
Since 2011 the Rotary Club of Douglas has been raising money for the End Polio Now global campaign.
At a lunch at Mount Murray today, it has been announced that the Ellan Vannin football team will promote the campaign on both their home & away kits.
The away kit has also been changed to purple to be even closer to the campaign.
Iron lungs were also on display - they were used 50 years ago when polio was still endemic on the Island.
On Friday, agreement has been given by the President of Tynwald to illuminate the wedding cake building purple - along with the Tower of Refuge.
