The politician tasked with saving ?5 million in just 12 months admits he’s going to be unpopular with many.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne was speaking after he unveiled a raft of proposals to increase parking charges.
They include a 50p increase in several Douglas car parks; the introduction of charges for civil servants and politicians; a 50p charge for school bus journeys; the introduction of a pay-and-display system on Douglas Promenade and the axing of half an hour free parking at Ronaldsway airport.
