Weapons amnesty next month

by isleofman.com 23rd October 2014
There will be an amnesty from prosecution for the surrender of firearms next month (Nov)
Members of the public are being invited to bring secured weapons and ammunition to their closest designated police station from Saturday the 1st of November through to midnight on Sunday the 30th.
The amnesty will also extend to cover regulated knives, swords and other weapons.
Inspector Mark Brittan says it's a chance for anyone who may have unwanted or unlicenced weapons in their attic or cellar to dispose of them safely without fear of prosecution
Anyone who may have explosive devices such as grenades should NOT bring them to police stations but should contact police headquarters and make arrangements for a trained firearms officer to visit and make the article safe.
Police stations taking part in the amnesty are Police Headquarters, Douglas, Ramsey Police Station, Castletown Police Station and Peel Police Station
