Minister defends new DoI charges

by isleofman.com 23rd October 2014
The infrastructure minister has been defending the raft of new charges which are being brought in by his department.
Phil Gawne appeared live on Talking Heads to face listeners who were generally disappointed or angry with the measures.
The DoI yesterday announced the likes of a 50p increase in several Douglas car parks; a 50p charge for school bus journeys; the introduction of a pay-and-display system on Douglas promenade walkway over winter and a ?25 'administration' fee for processing residents' permits.
Stu Peters suggested the parking charges to be introduced for Tynwald members and some civil servants in central Douglas were too low.
Mr Gawne said the amount would be going up progressively:Clip 1
