Manx Telecom has produced information packs to support a police campaign which is helping children to use the internet safely. The packs explain the risks that children can face online, what they can do to protect themselves, and where they can go for help. PC Michael Griffiths said:
“The Isle of Man Constabulary is keen to raise awareness of staying safe online. Young people on the Island have all grown up with the internet and most of them are technologically aware, however, not all are aware of the need to stay safe online and how to achieve that. In partnership with Manx Telecom we have held a numberof presentations on internet safety at secondary schools, and have recently started to run similar events at primary schools. Thanks to the continued support of Manx Telecom we have been able to produce 1,000 information packs to present to primary school pupils which will help us to get our internet safety message across to younger children.”
In addition to supporting Isle of Man Constabulary’s internet safety campaign, Manx Telecom also provides similar presentations at the annual Crucial Crew event at Isle of Man College during which primary school pupils from across the Island learn valuable life skills.
