Corks pop as Castletown couple scoop ?1 million lottery win

by isleofman.com 29th October 2014

A lorry driver from Castletown has gone public about becoming an overnight millionaire in the National Lottery.
Forty-six-year-old David Walton and his partner Tamara McKeown came up trumps on the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle last Friday.
The pair have been celebrating with a shopping spree in London, where they've been presented with their payout cheque.
David and Tamara play EuroMillions and Lotto every week and, as always, let the Lucky Dip choose their numbers when they bought their ticket from Station Garage on Victoria Road in Castletown.
Last Saturday morning the pair sat in bed incredulous as they checked the numbers on television and realised their raffle code matched the one on TV.
They checked again online and finally called Camelot to have the win confirmed.
David says the cash will take the stress out of making regular visits to see his poorly father in Clatterbridge hospital in Wirral.
But neither David nor Tamara, who's a hairdresser, plan to give up their jobs.
David has represented the Island at three Commonwealth Games in shooting and says the windfall means he can take his sport to the next level - he's now aiming for the next games, on Australia's Gold Coast, in 2018.
