MUA windfall possible as UK power capacity squeezed

by isleofman.com 31st October 2014
A shortage of electricity supply capacity in the UK this winter could offer lucrative export opportunities for the Isle of Man.
The National Grid's Winter Outlook report says the margin between generation capacity and expected demand will fall to just four per cent - a seven-year low.
The fall in supply is due to the break-down and closure of generators and new plants not coming online quickly enough.
It means the Island's power station at Pulrose could be in for a bonanza, exporting surplus power to the UK grid, at premium prices.
