Anyone for tennis?

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2014

The Douglas Lawn Tennis Club has reformed after a break of twenty years.

The new club can offer extra court time at its existing premises and is now keen to expand its membership. An open day is being held on Saturday (November 8) from 2-5pm and children and adults are invited along to have a look and join in taster sessions. Rackets and balls will be provided.

A spokesman for the club in Kensington Road, Douglas, said the existing courts had in the past also been used for football and hockey but were no longer required, adding: 'Douglas Council held talks with the Isle of Man Lawn Tennis Association about the possibility of expanding tennis use and from this the new club was formed.'

After the open day, former Isle of Man champion Karen Faragher will be running weekly beginners' and improvers' tennis coaching sessions for adults. For juniors, there will be a six-week course led by qualified coach Max Stokoe.
