Minister apologises for parking measures

by isleofman.com 4th November 2014
The Minister for Infrastructure has issued an apology in the Keys for his proposed raft of measures to increase revenue for his department.
They include a 50p increase in several Douglas car parks, the introduction of charges for civil servants and politicians and a 50p charge for school bus journeys.
There are also proposals to charge residents of Douglas ?25 under the Disc Parking Residents Permits Scheme
Answering a question on what impact assessment had been carried out on the scheme, Phil Gawne said he'd been tasked with saving ?5 million in just 12 months and he understands the financial pressure many Island residents are facing
The question led to some heated debate on the proposed measures and a somewhat riled response from former Infrastructure Minister David Cretney . . .
