Boost to local Food and Drink markets

Existing and new Manx food and drink producers are set to benefit from a new drive from the Department of Agriculture.
"Food Matters" is a 10 year strategy to add ?50 million value to the sector through both Government and private investment.
It's aimed at both the local and export markets.
Director of Agriculture at DEFA Dr Peter McAvoy says one area is for farmers to take away dependence on the Countryside Care Scheme and provide what the market is demanding.
DEFA Minister Richard Ronan says farmers can play a vital role if they free themselves from a reliance on subsidy and seek to supply what the market needs
