New team at Meadowside

by isleofman.com 7th November 2014

The Meadowside Choral Society, based in Colby, is approaching the festive season in good heart and in good voice.

Since September the choir’s musical direction has been in the hands of Jonathan King and Judith Christian. At the choir’s Annual General Meeting on Monday 29th September the Society also elected Jonathan as its Chairman. Jonathan said: “I am very pleased to be working with Judith Christian and the Meadowside Choral Society. Judith and I are both contributing a lot of ideas and it is very much a double act.”

At the end of October the choir held a “watching evening”, or short informal concert for family and friends (pictured) at which it performed some of the music it has been working on with Jonathan and Judith.

Now that November is here the carol books have come out as the choir gets ready for a series of performances over Advent and Christmas. As well as singing for the residents of Abbotts Wood and Southlands, the choir will be performing for the public on three occasions: at the Howe Chapel on Sunday 30th November at 6.30pm; at St Mary’s Church Port St Mary on Sunday 14th December at 6.30pm; and at Union Mills on Sunday 28th December at 2.45pm.

The choir, which was formed in 1962, meets on Monday evenings from 8pm to 9.15pm in Colby Methodist Hall. New members are welcome at any time. To find out more please contact Jonathan on 458117 or e-mail jdc.king@yahoo.co.uk.
