The Winner Bakes it All!

by isleofman.com 10th November 2014

Back for 2014, businesses and schools across the Island are encouraged to dust off their aprons and take to the kitchen to support the Isle of Man’s very own Great Manx Bake Off – Cakes for Kids.

Organised by The Children’s Centre, the highly anticipated annual Cakes for Kids helps to raise much needed funds for their charitable projects which help families and children across the Island.

The official week this year will start on Monday 1 December with the option for businesses, schools and nurseries to hold a cake sale any day that week, anywhere you like, whilst helping to raise money – by eating! According to the Centre, the recipe to a successful Christmas bake off includes a mixture of fun, festivity and flour blended with some online show stopper inspiration to allow for the creation of some fantastic bakes of all shapes and sizes we’re sure celebrity panellists would nod in approval to.

Susie Cox, Fundraising Coordinator at The Children’s Centre, commented:

‘Cakes for kids has become a bit of an annual tradition for lots of our supporters, I mean- who doesn’t like cake? And with the popularity of shows like Great British Bake-off, everyone’s at it anyway! Whether you’re showing off your skills-or just giving it a go- we don’t mind soggy bottoms or an unset Alaska here! We’ll be offering a little pack to help too - which includes essentials to help publicise your cake sale at your local, your workplace, your school or group - So in true Bake off style, on your marks, get set, BAKE - all for The Children’s Centre!’

Again this year there’s also a chance to show off your creations by emailing photos to Susie at susiecox@thechildrenscentre.org.im so she can upload them to The Children’s Centre website.

With the countdown to the event now truly on, this is your time to sign up now and make sure your secret weapons are in position and ready to roll come 1 December!

To register for your Cakes for Kids Starter Pack please email fundraising@thechildrenscentre.org.im or call Susie Cox on 676076.
