Houghton not pround of actions - but stands firm in convictions

by isleofman.com 12th November 2014
North Douglas MHK John Houghton says he's not proud of being told to leave the House of Keys during Questions yesterday - but "stands firm in his convictions".
Speaker Steve Rodan asked Mr Houghton to leave after he refused to withdraw a comment in which he inferred Treasury Minister Eddie Teare was being less than honest in his answers.
Mr Houghton's question regarded the signing of a new, global, tax information exchange deal in Berlin recently, which Mr Teare had described as a positive move.
The agreement commits its 51 signatories to automatically share information in accordance with the Common Reporting Standard developed by the OECD and endorsed by the G20 earlier this year.
Mr Houghton says he's drafted further questions on the matter for Mr Teare, who he claims is misleading the public, and says the agreement will in fact lead to the Island losing millions of pounds:Clip 1
