HMS Vigilant donates ?1500 to mayoral charity appeal

by isleofman.com 14th November 2014

The mayoral charity appeal has been boosted by ?1500 thanks to crew members of HMS Vigilant, which enjoys a civic affiliation with Douglas.

The team of 11 submariners spent time in the Isle of Man in September as part of an epic bike fundraising bike ride from their home port of Clyde.

During their visit the team also tackled the TT course to raise funds for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines charity.

The cheque was presented to Douglas Mayor Stan Cain at a reception in Douglas town hall for visiting service personnel taking part in this year’s Remembrance Sunday service.

The ?1500 will benefit Cruse Bereavement Care, the Douglas Live at Home Scheme and St Mary’s Lourdes Youth.
