Union questions legality of pensions reforms

Government staff union Prospect says it will scrutinise every word of controversial new measures which could force its members to pay more for their pensions - for fewer benefits.
Last week, a government working party announced proposals to put up contributions by 3 per cent, to ensure the pensions of around 8,000 current staff remain viable.
That news comes just two years after a landmark reform of public sector pensions, which promised to make them affordable.
Prospect negotiations officer Angela Moffatt says someone must be held responsible for the failure of the 2012 reforms to make the savings needed.
