Check your passport if you are planning to travel over the festive holidays

by isleofman.com 19th November 2014
Local residents planning to travel off-Island over the festive holidays are being urged by the Passport Office to check the validity of their passports.

Annie Taylor, Senior Passport, Immigration and Nationality Officer explained: “People can renew their current passport from nine months before its expiry date without losing those months and days.  Any time still ‘in credit’ will be added to the expiry date of their new passport.”

Anybody who discovers their passport is out of date, and requires a passport by a guaranteed date, can take advantage of the five working days or one-day express service, subject to certain conditions being met.

First time applicants cannot apply to use the express services in case they need to be interviewed by an officer from the Passport, Immigration and Nationality Office.  It is recommended that express applications are made in person, and applications for the one-day express service should be made before 12noon.

The public should also check the entry requirements for their chosen holiday destination as some countries require passport holders to meet certain entry requirements, for example having at least six months remaining on a passport before the expiry date.

During the Festive period the Passport Office will be closed from 4:00pm on Wednesday 24 December 2014 until 9:30am on Monday 29 December 2014.  The office will also be closed from 4:00pm on Wednesday 31 December 2014 until 9:30am on Monday 5 January 2015.

The full list of opening times during the Festive period is available on the website by clicking here.
