Special guest at switching-on ceremony

by isleofman.com 19th November 2014

A five year old Onchan youngster will have one of his Christmas wishes come true when he helps the Mayor of Douglas switch on the Christmas illuminations tomorrow night.

Finley Hesketh was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an incurable muscle wasting disease, in May this year. His parents Clive and Kirstie want Finley, who they described as 'our little superhero', to enjoy his mobility while he can and asked Douglas Council whether he could help switch on the lights.

Clive and Kirstie have set up a facebook page (link below) and are in the process of establishing a new charity, Finley's Tracks, to follow his journey through life, raise awareness of the condition and vital funds towards research for a cure and support for Finley and others.

Finley, who goes to Ballacottier school with big sister Alyssa, eight, will be helping perform the switching on ceremony tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.15pm outside the Town Hall.
