Sport investment can reduce health spending

'Early intervention and prevention is better than cure' is the strapline for The Strategy for Sport for the next 10 years.
It's estimated physical inactivity costs the Island ?11.6 million a year with obesity alone making up ?5.6 million of that figure.
Amongst the 10 main objectives in The Sport Strategy are to increase physical activity in young people, make sport available to all and to improve coaching and facilities.
However, additional funding of ?100,000 for each of the next three years will be needed.
