Heron & Brearley has donated ?668 to the Royal British Legion’s poppy appeal.

The money was raised after the company pledged to donate ?1 for every meal sold in its pubs on Remembrance Sunday, November 9th to the campaign, the British Legion’s biggest annual fundraising appeal.

Retail and estates director Steven Taylor said: ‘The people of the Isle of Man are noted for their generosity when it comes to the Poppy Appeal, which has led to the Island being awarded the National Poppy Appeal trophy 39 times.

‘In the year that marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War we wanted to join with our customers in supporting the British Legion and its poppy appeal, a campaign which is as relevant today as it was when launched in 1921.

‘I am delighted our customers got behind the appeal so enthusiastically and that through their enjoying great food and hospitality in our pubs we have been able to contribute to the Legion’s vital welfare work.’
