Planning statistics to be published

by isleofman.com 24th November 2014
More details about the planning system are set to be published in an attempt to make it more transparent, according to the Department of Infrastructure.
The department will provide a quarterly update on the number of planning applications dealt with and the length of time taken to reach a decision.
The information will be available on the government's website, gov.im.
As a way of previewing how this will be done, the DoI has released the statistics from the start of October last year to the end of December this year.
They show that 1,551 planning applications were determined in that time, of which 87 per cent were approved - that's 1,339 applications.
Seventy per cent of them were determined within eight weeks, and 88 per cent within 13 weeks.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says putting the statistics online will give people an insight into the performance of the planning division, and claims it will help to dispel some of the myths and misconceptions that exist around planning.
