Neighbours praised for action over fire

by isleofman.com 25th November 2014

Fire crews have praised members of the public who raised the alarm after a blaze broke out in a house in Onchan.
The neighbours had heard a smoke detector and opened a door in the property to let a dog out, before the fire service arrived.
Fire had broken out in the kitchen and the building was heavily smoke logged when crews arrived yesterday afternoon.
Officers say the prompt action of the neighbours saved the dog's life and ensured the fire was confined to one room.
They're urging householders to check smoke alarms before putting up Christmas decorations.
