The Magicians of Mann and their guests were treated to a masterclass in card magic recently, when Spanish magician Dani DaOrtiz performed at the Catholic Columba Club in Douglas. He flew over specifically to perform for the local magic club, and on the following day led a whole day magic workshop for members. Paul Martin, chairman of the Magicians of Mann, explained "It was like an early Christmas present when Dani contacted me and asked if we would like him to visit the Island. His whole approach to card magic is wonderfully refreshing, and even very knowledgable magicians are blown away by his techniques. The invited audience had a terrific evening, and it was undoubtedly the best evening of close-up magic we've ever had." Dani DaOrtiz combines great technique with crazy humour, creating a wonderfully entertaining performance. Age 30, he is one of the great card workers that Spain has given the world. Daniel Ortiz is from Malaga, and like most magicians he began learning magic after being given a box of tricks by his father. He likes taking risks to achieve the desired effect, and this allows him to create incredible magic for different audiences.
The Magicians of Mann themselves stage 'An Evening of Magic' at the Peel Centenary Centre on Friday 28th November. The show starts at 8pm and tickets are available online at www.etickets.im/cc and at Shakti Man (Ramsey), Thompson Travel (Port Erin), Peter Norris Music (Douglas) and Celtic Gold (Peel). It promises to be another mystifying and fun-filled evening.
