by isleofman.com 25th November 2014

Island brewery Heron and Brearley has donated almost ?700 to this year's poppy appeal.
The company raised the money by donating ?1 for every meal sold in its pubs on Remembrance Sunday, November 9th.
It is the Royal British Legion's biggest annual fundraising campaign, and the Isle of Man has won the National Poppy Appeal trophy for the most raised 39 times.
Retail and estates director Steven Taylor said: ‘‘In the year that marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War we wanted to join with our customers in supporting the British Legion and its poppy appeal, a campaign which is as relevant today as it was when launched in 1921.

He added: ‘I am delighted our customers got behind the appeal so enthusiastically and that through their enjoying great food and hospitality in our pubs we have been able to contribute to the Legion’s vital welfare work.’
