No answer on Jacksons loss

by isleofman.com 26th November 2014

Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says he's prevented from revealing how much of a loss the Jacksons concert made by a clause in the agent's contract.

Questioned by Onchan MHK David Quirk over the issue, Mr Teare said in a written reply that such clauses were very common in the entertainment industry, adding: 'Indeed, were we to remove such clauses it would greatly impact our ability to attract acts to the
Island.'

He said that despite losses from individual events, several shows this year had 'significantly exceeded' their income targets. However, the government is reviewing its options for the future operation of the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre.
