Police have highlighted recent convictions to enforce the message that financial crime will not be tolerated.
Two people, Ian Darroch, aged 60, and Christine Dirom, 58, were handed lengthy jail terms on Wednesday after being found guilty of several offences during a six week trial.
Darroch was jailed for nine years for eight offences including theft, false accounting, forgery and conspiracy to pervert the course of
justice. His brother Andrew Darroch, 64, was jailed for two and a half years for similar charges. Dirom was jailed for two years for six offences of theft.
DC Julie Jones of the financial crime unit said: 'These offences were a serious breach of trust by Ian Darroch and Christine Dirom who stole considerable funds from a client bank account under their control and during their trial showed no remorse. Andrew Darroch assisted his brother in attempting to cover up these crimes.
'The Isle of Man Constabulary would like to thank all witnesses who assisted with this trial and to the aggrieved in this case who has waited several years during a lengthy and complex investigation to see justice done.
'Corporate Service Providers are key players in ensuring that the Isle of Man has a positive financial reputation. The sentences handed down send out a strong message to the international financial community that the Island will not tolerate such criminal conduct.'
