Attorney General exempted from work permit

by isleofman.com 30th November 2014
The Island’s Attorney General wouldn’t need a work permit under new rules to be considered by Tynwald next month.

When the court sits, Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly will ask members to approve an order exempting the role of Attorney General – and a proposed Solicitor General – from the Island’s Control of Employment Act.

The Attorney General’s Chambers says it wants as wide a field of candidates as it can when recruiting and adds there’s also the possibility the Queen’s appointment to the post could be overturned if a work permit isn’t granted.

Tynwald sits a week on Tuesday.
