Fewer than 30 people showed up for the last in a series of public meetings about charging ?25 a year for resident’s parking permits last night.

The event in the Douglas Legion was chaired by Dominic Delaney and saw Department of Infrastructure member Chris Thomas MHK address the crowd.

At the end of the meeting, residents voted unanimously against paying for the facility – which is currently free.

Douglas Councillor Karen Anglea says it’s the poorest people who’ll be most affected by the plans:Clip 1
