The Salvation Army hopes to help every child referred to them to enjoy Christmas this year by distributing toys to local families in need, and both the BEST WESTERN Palace Hotel & Casino and The Sefton are delighted to have been able to offer support to the venture.
The joint Christmas Toys Appeal between The Salvation Army and Isle of Man Bank has collected a tremendous amount of toys, which will be handed out later this month to the 400 or so children who have been referred to them. The hotels were honoured to be invited to contribute to the cause by donating sweets, chocolates and selection boxes to be given to families along with toys and food packages.
Staff from the BEST WESTERN Palace Hotel & Casino, The Sefton, Sefton Express and Palace Cinema joined together to collect enough sweet treats for at least 180 families this Christmas.
The Salvation Army in Douglas, led by captains Carolyn and Simon Clampton, is part of The Salvation Army’s worldwide Christian church and registered charity. Its team works tirelessly throughout the year to provide help and support to children and families, older people, unemployed people, homeless people and those in poverty.
Carolyn said: ‘We are so grateful to the BEST WESTERN Palace Hotel & Casino and The Sefton for their generous support of The Salvation Army’s appeal this Christmas. For most people, things like sweets and chocolate are something we just expect to have in our homes during Christmas. But to those families struggling to make ends meet, let alone buying toys, presents and festive foods, those little extra treats really do make a world of difference, especially during a time that is meant to be about celebration and happiness.’
Nicola Wilkinson, Marketing Manager at the Sefton Group, added: ‘It has been a privilege to work alongside The Salvation Army to help make its appeal a success. Isle of Man Bank has done a fantastic job in collecting so many gifts for families to enjoy this Christmas, and we are so pleased to have been able to contribute to such a worthy cause.
‘I would also like to extend a big thank you to all of our staff who donated sweets and selection boxes to the appeal this year; your donations will make a huge difference to every family visited by The Salvation Army during the holidays.’
