Commissioners call for rents re-think

by isleofman.com 8th December 2014
Three local authority members have joined forces to write to the Minister of Health and Social Care asking for the rent rise decision to be reversed.
Onchan commissioner Rob Callister, Malew member Eddie Power and Ramsey commissioner Lawrie Hooper have written to Howard Quayle voicing their concerns.
Mr Callister says he’s very disappointed the view of many local authorities and tenants have been ignored, particularly those on low and fixed incomes and without any form of means testing.

He believes more than ?3 million will have been transferred from government onto local authorities by next April as a result and that rate rises are inevitable.Clip 1
