Council keen to shape capital's post office plans

The leader of Douglas council says the proposed closure of the capital's main post office was handled very badly - but the authority is still willing to talk to Post Office officials about it.
The decision to close Crown offices in Douglas and Ramsey and relocate services to sub post offices in local Spar stores sparked public outcry.
Public meetings to oppose the closure of the Regent Street and Parliament Street offices have been held and thousands of signatures collected on petitions.
The reorganisation has now been delayed for three months to allow further options to be explored, following an emergency debate in the House of Keys.
Leader of Douglas Borough Council David Christian says he knew nothing about the closure plans until he read about them on social media - as the local authority hadn't been consulted in any way:
