Island on radar of global bio med sector

The Isle of Man has been promoting itself as the location of choice for bio med sector firms seeking a business-friendly environment with established financial services and secure data storage facilities.
For the second year, the Department of Economic Development has hosted a Manx Bio Med conference at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas.
It's been an opportunity for firms in the emerging local cluster and delegates from off-Island companies to network, hear about the latest developments in bio medicine and pitch for investment funding.
Today's opening address was given by Dr Lorin Johnson, founder of Salix Pharmaceuticals, who divides his time between Silicon Valley and the Isle of Man.
He says the Island has much to offer:
