Treasury allowed 'witch hunt' against me - Houghton

by isleofman.com 12th December 2014
The MHK who has not paid towards his Tynwald pension for two years has suggested someone in Treasury was 'out to get him'.

North Douglas member John Houghton has defended his failure to contribute - claiming he sent forms to Treasury's payroll section as soon as voluntary pension contributions were invited in 2012.

Treasury says it never received his instruction.

In an interview with Manx Radio, Mr Houghton said officials could have reminded him no deductions were being made from his salary - but instead allowed a 'witch hunt' to gather pace.

An investigation to uncover the name of the MHK not paying into his pension pot has been in the headlines for two weeks.

Mr Houghton told Marian Kenny Treasury may be punishing him for questioning government policy:Clip 1
