Chief minister dismisses MHK's 'witch hunt' jibe

by isleofman.com 12th December 2014
The chief minister has dismissed suggestions by an MHK that Treasury was 'out to get him' in the row over pension contributions.

North Douglas member John Houghton has stoutly defended his failure to make voluntary payments into the Tynwald Members' scheme for more than two years.

He says he sent in forms authorising payroll deductions to the Treasury, and assumed they were being taken, but never checked his payslips.

Treasury has denied ever receiving such an instruction from Mr Houghton.

Allan Bell says Mr Houghton has tried to blame others for his own mistake.

He says attacking the integrity of civil servants is a serious matter:Clip 1
