In another first for the Island, Manx Telecom’s Pay As You Go mobile customers will be able to access the Island’s fastest mobile broadband and only 4G service from January 5th, when it’s opened up to all Pay As You Go customers with a compatible SIM card and 4G handset. 4G delivers speeds up to 10 times faster compared to 3G mobile broadband and a significantly improved experience. It’s ideal for everyone using mobile broadband for everything from downloading music, emails, movies, streaming live HDTV or uploading photos or files in an instant. Manx Telecom launched the Island’s first 4G service in July, when it was initially made available for its Pay Monthly mobile customers.

The majority of Manx Telecom’s Pay As You Go customers will need to swap their existing SIM card for a new 4G compatible SIM card to access the network. These can be swapped for FREE in-store and customers’ mobile numbers, allowance and credit are unaffected.  New customers who want to try out 4G in advance, can do so in store on over 35 4G ready devices, or simply wait and purchase a Manx Telecom Pay As You Go SIM at the time for just ?5, which comes with ?5 credit. Customers can check whether their handset and SIM are 4G compatible by going to www.manxtelecom.com/4g and entering their mobile number. The website will then tell them the next steps they might need to take.

Manx Telecom will also introduce new ‘Surfer’ top-ups in January to coincide with the launch of 4G for Pay As You Go. These new top-ups will be in addition to the existing ‘Chattterbox’ top-ups that customers are already familiar with, but they will come packed with even more FREE data, to enjoy superfast 4G to the full.
