Questions over Post Office closures

by isleofman.com 15th December 2014

Backbench MHK Peter Karran will quiz the Treasury Minister and Post Office chairman over the decision to close the main Post Office branches in Douglas and Ramsey.

There was a public outcry when it was announced that existing services would be moved to sub-post offices in nearby Spar shops.

In the House of Keys tomorrow, Mr Karran is asking Eddie Teare whether he had any direct involvement in the decision to employ a closed tender and to appoint Mannin Retail to operate the sub-post offices.

He's asking Graham Cregeen why 'open competitive tendering' was not used and what the extent of political influence from outside the Post Office was.
