New dawn in new year for Jurby church

Ownership of Jurby church may be in the hands of the local community next year after a compromise was reached to prevent its closure.
Talks have been underway between the diocese and the Friends group at the church, to ensure its future use as a place of worship.
Legal details of the arrangement are still being discussed but it has been agreed some important religious services will continue to be held there, while the building will be owned locally.
The Island's Lord Bishop Robert Paterson says he cannot divulge much about the new era for Jurby church until the deal is finalised:
