Houghton apologises in Keys over pension lapse

The MHK who failed to make any contribution to his pension over two years has made a personal apology in the House of Keys.
North Douglas member John Houghton last week emerged as the only one of 24 members who had not made any voluntary contributions to his pension pot.
He says he sent a form authorising deductions from his salary to Treasury's payroll section in 2012 - but it was never received.
Mr Houghton says he never checks his pay slips and didn't notice the failure to pay into the Tynwald members' scheme.
This morning he offered a verbal apology to the House for any distress the matter has caused to his collegues:
