Ramsey men sentenced for drug offences

On Tuesday 14th October 2014, Officers from the Pro Active Team arrested Scott Carbutt, a 32 year old male and David Bonnar, a 36 year old male; at Ronaldsway Airport for the importation and possession with intent to supply the Class A drug Heroin.  Both males from the Ramsey area were responsible for the importation of ?22,600.00 of Heroin.  The Heroin was seized by Police and both males were subsequently charged with serious drug offences.
 
On Monday 15th December 2014 both males were sentenced at a Court of General Gaol in Douglas.  Mr Bonnar received a sentence of 7? years imprisonment and Mr Carbutt received a sentence of 6 years and 10 months imprisonment.
 
Detective Sergeant Paul Holland of the Pro Active Team said:

“Bringing drugs into the Isle of Man is a very serious offence; we have a specialist team dedicated in dealing with serious and organized crime.  Clearly the sentences handed out reflect what you can expect if you take the risk and get caught.”
