Milestone reached for landmark building

by isleofman.com 18th December 2014

The second phase of a major refurbishment of Port St Mary town hall has been completed.

The project got under way in 2012 with an internal refurbishment. The second phase has brought the external building up to a similar
condition.

Commissioners' chairman Bernadette McCabe said: 'Port St Mary Town Hall is one of the most important civic buildings in the south of the island. It has served our community for over a hundred years and this work ensures that it can do so for another hundred. We are hosting weddings, concerts, exhibitions and all manner of corporate functions here and look forward to continuing to do so for many more years.

'The commissioners are particularly proud to be able to undertake this work without putting any greater burden on the ratepayers in our village.'
