Symbolic light reflects true meaning of Christmas

by isleofman.com 18th December 2014

A flame which was first lit at the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem is burning at a church in the Isle of Man for the first time.
The Peace Light of Bethlehem has been brought here by a party of Guides and Scouts, who travelled to St Helen's in Merseyside to take a 'share' of the flame as it tours the UK.
By tradition, the light travels from the holy land to Austria before being spread around Europe as organisations take what's called a 'distribution' and pass it on.
The Manx flame will be shared at a special service this weekend, which several hundred young people are expected to attend.
This is the first time in 28 years the peace light has come here.
