Residents from across the west of the Island have been treated to a memorable festive lunch at Peel Golf Club, courtesy of the Western Live at Home charity.
More than 40 guests attended the lunch, along with charity volunteers, with suitably seasonal entertainment provided afterwards by the Musicale mixed choir, who sang a collection of carols to add to the atmosphere.
To further add to the occasion, students from QE2 High School arrived after the lunch to distribute hampers which had been put together by the school’s pupils, parents and staff.
The afternoon’s entertainment was finished off by Paul Sayers who played guitar and sang Christmas songs and carols.
“It was a really lovely event,” said Hilary Yates, manager of the Western Live at Home Scheme. “There was a special atmosphere and lots of smiles on faces. I think it’s fair to say this was enjoyed by everyone.
“It was also a nice opportunity for us to say thank-you to our wonderful volunteers, who give their time throughout the year to make a difference to so many people across the west of the Island.”
Western Live at Home Scheme is a charity which relies on volunteers to provide a much needed service to help improve the lives for a large number of people all over the west of the Island.
The key aim of the charity is “to respect every person as a unique individual and to treat others, especially the most frail and vulnerable, with the dignity we wish for ourselves.”
Volunteers give just a few hours of their time to help people continue to live independently in their own homes by assisting with simple tasks such as shopping and running errands.
The Western Live at Home Scheme offers a warm welcome to new volunteers who are always needed. For further information contact Hilary Yates on 843012.
