Douglas man arrested for importing Diazepam

On Thursday 18th December 2014 October 2014, Police arrested a local male at his home address in Douglas.  This was following a joint operation between the Pro Active Team, Douglas Uniform and Customs Officers.  The male was arrested for attempting to import 500 Diazepam tablets (a class C controlled drug) into the Isle of Man via the postal system.  A subsequent search was conducted of the male’s home address and a quantity of individual deal wraps of Heroin were located in addition to a quantity of Cannabis. 

At 10pm the same day the male was charged with 4 serious drug offences and held or Court on Friday 19th December 2014.

Detective Sergeant Paul Holland of the Pro Active Team stated “Offenders attempting to import controlled drugs should be aware that the Police, Customs and Excise Officers work closely to identify and locate offenders using the Postal system to bring drugs onto the Island, these criminals run the risk of being caught and receiving substantial prison sentences”.
