Children from a nursery in Ramsey brought some Christmas cheers to the elderly in residential homes in the town. Youngsters from Bonwick Day Nursery in Lezayre Road – which is run by The Children’s Centre – visited five residential homes in the North of the Island on December 18th and 19th with gifts of mince pies, and also sang Christmas carols.
Kelly Charman, Nursery & Play Manager, Bonwick Day Nursery, said:
“The main purpose was to raise an awareness in the children about the world around them, and the town in which they live, whilst spreading some Christmas happiness to the elderly residents who may not have family or friends to visit them. Children singing always brings a smile to people’s faces and there’s no better time to do it than Christmas. It was a great treat for everyone involved.”
The children visited Beaconsfield Tower Nursing and Residential Home, King’s Reach Care Home, Brookfield Nursing and Residential Home, Grove Mount Residential Home and The Grest Residential Home.
Val Thomson, Home Manager, Beaconsfield Tower Nursing & Residential Home, added:
“The staff would like to say a BIG thank you to all the children and staff from Bonwick Day Nursery for visiting our residents, singing so beautifully and bringing good cheer and happiness to all. Thank you very much.”
Bonwick Day Nursery is home to the only baby nursery in the north of the Island. It is one of five nurseries on the Island run by The Children’s Centre. For more information go to http://www.thechildrenscentre.org.im/
