Peace light begins travels around Island

by isleofman.com 20th December 2014
More than 100 Guides and Scouts are gathering for a special ceremony in Douglas on Saturday, to honour and share a light symbolising the true meaning of Christmas.
The Peace Light of Bethlehem arrived here last Wednesday, and from Saturday will be taken to churches around the Island.
The light is taken each year from an eternal flame at the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem and then transported around Europe, as 'distributions' are lit, shared and passed on.
The light's been kept in St Matthew's Church on North Quay and on Saturday afternoon the task of spreading it around the Island begins, with the help of scores of young people.
