Government urged to 'get moving' on Manx credit union

A group seeking to set up a credit union on the Island is urging the government to 'get moving' on the scheme.
A working group was set up earlier this year to gauge likely take-up of low cost small loans from a credit union - which are non-profit organisations, owned by its members.
In October, the group gave out information about its plans to shoppers in Douglas as part of an international credit union awareness day.
But current legislation needs to be updated before a union can be established here.
Working party chairman David Talbot says a recent consultants' report on the Island's national insurance fund has now flagged up the idea as a good one:
