Highways authorities will be starting work on one of Ramsey's main routes in the new year.
Work will focus on the reconstruction of the highways and footways on Bowring Road, including the installation of new water mains and associated drainage. The first six-week phase involves closing the road from Parliament Street to Station Road, starting on January 5.
The second phase is scheduled to take eight weeks to complete but one lane will be kept open to keep traffic flowing in and out of the town.
John Houghton MHK, member of the Department of Infrastructure with responsibility for highways services, said: 'This is an important
project that will provide a better ride quality for motorists and improved footpaths for pedestrians, as well as upgrading essential
services provided by Manx Utilities. The department is taking a phased approach to the work to try to minimise the disruption and I’d like to thank the people of Ramsey in advance for their patience and understanding.'
