Sandbags and road salt stockpiled for severe weather

by isleofman.com 23rd December 2014
As many Island workers wind down for a prolonged break over Christmas and new year, the Island's roads maintenance teams are preparing for action!
Although no severe winter weather is imminent - according to the latest forecast -detailed plans are in place to keep roads open and residents safe in the event of storms, flooding or a freeze.
The Department of Infrastructure says lessons have been learned after the floods last January and February - and from the heavy snowfall in 2013.
Large stocks of sandbags and road salt are available and road teams are on duty, with extra staff on standby, throughout the festive season.
