Second Post Office meeting in new year

by isleofman.com 24th December 2014

Another meeting to discuss the future of Ramsey's main post office has been organised by the town's commissioners.

it's due to take place in the west wing of Ramsey Grammar School on January 29.

Isle of Man Post Office had planned to close the branch at the town's old courthouse, and the one on Regent Street in Douglas, and move the services into nearby Spar stores.

That's been temporarily put on hold, following a vote in Tynwald earlier this month.

Chairman of Ramsey Commissioners Captain Nigel Malpass says at this stage there is much activity going on to amplify the public's feelings, such as a protest march on the House of Keys early in the new year.

Due to the overwhelming demand the commissioners have organised another public meeting for everyone to hear what is happening.

He says his real concern is it won't be big enough to hold everyone who wishes to attend but adds there is no alternative venue.
