Social care dept defends children's services decision

by isleofman.com 24th December 2014
The Department of Health and Social Care is defending its decision to award residential care and aftercare services contracts to St Christopher's.

It says the organisation won the contracts in a competitive tender process which considered both quality and cost criteria.

The Children's Centre, which lost out to St Christopher's, has appealed the decision.

It complained the process was tarnished after it emerged a senior civil servant and member of the interview panel was a director of one of the charities shortlisted.

That appeal has been dismissed.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan is the department's member with political responsibility for children and families:Clip 1
